The left side as you sit on the bike is - or ground and can easily be reached with no short circuiting problems. The + side (on the right side) is buried on purpose so you won't arc it to ground and possibily explode the battery. Follow the previous directions about moving the battery out to remove that connector. If you have a manual and some wiring accessories you could charge it by removing the seat to access the fuse holder and use that for the positive and frame/engine for the negative. Not the best solution but workable with a low amp charger.
